My Story
I am a 6th generation trapper/outdoorsman. My family's military history goes all the way back to the civil war and every major war since then. I served in the marines as an infantryman from 2009-2013 in support of operation Enduring Freedom. I joined the Army in 2017 as an infantryman and deployed to Afghanistan again in support of Resolute Support.
The reason I am starting VTA is that in training and Afghanistan I learned skills to find IEDs and observe my quarry. A lot of those skills transfer directly to trapping and I think a lot of OIF and OEF veterans let this skill go unutilized. I believe it can help prevent veteran suicide by getting them off the couch and out in the woods trapping. With trapping, you have to check them every 24hr, giving them a reason to get up every morning and something to look forward to the next day.
To get more veterans and active duty outdoors trapping and fur handling.
